WORKSHOP

Workshop is a place where students acquire knowledge on the operation of various processes involved in manufacturing and production. The Workshop Practice course makes students competent in handling practical work in engineering environment. Workshop is also involved in different maintenance/repair works for Polytechnic.

Sections in Workshop Department

Machine Section: It is the place in which Metal Parts are cut to the required size and put together to form a Mechanical unit. Students usually carryout practical’s on various machines such as Lathe, Milling, drilling, shaper etc.

Fitting Section: A Fitting shop is where assembling work is done. Students learn hand operations like marking, filing, sawing, drilling, and threading to achieve precision. It also involves repair, maintenance, and die-punch work to develop practical mechanical skills.

Carpentary Section: In Carpentry Shop, students learn to work with wood using hand tools and machines. Training includes cutting, shaping, and joining timber. Common tasks involve wood shaping, custom cabinetry, and furniture making, with timber as the primary material used.

Foundry Section: Foundry is one of the manufacturing process by which a desired shape of metal is obtained by heating up to its molten state (liquid state), and pouring into mould cavity. After some time metal is allowed to cool and solidify. The solidified piece of metal is known as casting.

Plumbing Section: In this section, students learn about different plumbing pipes, fittings, joints, valves, fixtures, and tanks. Training focuses on installing, maintaining, and performing minor repairs in plumbing systems to develop practical skills in fluid conveyance and plumbing operations.
