Civil Engineering Department
The department of Civil Engineering is one of the oldest department established in the year 1963, has trained technical manpower ever since. It is also involved in Industry Institute Interaction with a present intake of forty students with following added features:
- Expert Teaching faculties specialized in field of Civil Engineering.
- Excellent Lab Setup like Survey Laboratory, Quality Control Laboratory, Geo - Technical Laboratory.
- Hands on training and field visits
At present apart from academics the department is involved in Resource Generation having interaction with leading industries, consultance, Architects and organizations.
The Syllabi of the course has been revised timely based on the industrial requirement and needs, so that the pass out students will have less hardship to seek employment and accustom to the new technology. Students are given hands-on training during the practical sessions, so as to adapt well to the technical life in the industry, mandatory industrial training is introduced in their final semester for duration of Eight Weeks. The students are encouraged to continue their further Graduation studies either through regular course or through AMIE of Institution.
Along with Academic excellence the Laboratory facilities in Civil Engineering department has been a key factor not only in imparting practical knowledge to the Diploma scholars, but also is the main link in the industry institute interaction. The department houses well equipped laboratories in Concrete Technology, Geotechnical engineering, Materials and Structures and Surveying.
The physical testing component materials of concrete i.e. Cement, Sand and Metal aggregate as well as testing of Green concrete and hardened concrete is carried out with expertise in concrete Technology Laboratory. The consultancy services to the industry are also offered through mix design of concrete.
The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory of the department has enabled Soil Investigation of number of esteemed projects sites in Goa, Konkan belts and Karnataka border.
The blending of traditional methods of surveying with the recent developments and innovations in surveying technology can be seen in Survey Laboratory of the Department.
Materials and structures Laboratory is also well equipped to meet the academic as well as industry expectations.
