Community Development Through Polytechnics

Introduction:

The Scheme of Community Development through Polytechnic was started in February 2009 under the centrally sponsored Scheme of The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Educational Eligibility:

No compulsory Education level is required as the qualifying exam, but basic education/ aptitude will be considered as education criterion.

Course Duration:

The scheme imparts training free of cost for 3 to 6 months duration in following different short Term courses.

Intake Capacity:

These courses do not have a specific admission capacity and shall be conducted subject to availability of resource person and enrolment of suitable number of students. On success full completion of the above short term courses the student shall be awarded certificate by Government polytechnic Panaji.

  • Embroidery & Advanced Embroidery
  • Bag Making
  • Basic typing & Stenography
  • Carpentry
  • Macrame
  • Motor Diesel Mechanic
  • Garment Making
  • Bakery & Confectionery
  • Artificial & Fancy Jewellery
  • Fashion Designing
  • Computer Application
  • Food Preservation
  • Welding & Fabrication
  • Electrical Repairs & Safety Measures

And any other ‘technical courses’ as per the need of the Community.

Course Structure and Course Content:

As designed by the Institute Committee. The Heads of Department design the module and assist to find Trainers, set up laboratories, plan materials, time & make it a quality program. If any new technologies are available that can enhance production those are also transferred to the Communities.

Career Prospects:

The Trainees after completion of training are given assistance in fetching jobs, setting up units, marketing products & getting loans. A survey is conducted every year & as per the needs activities are planned & implemented. The heads of departments of each program are giving modules for courses that can be conducted with their assistance that have scope for employment. Technical support is provided in areas of need & awareness is created about contemporary issues, government Schemes, Opportunities available, etc.
