Architectural Assistantship
Introduction:
Diploma in Architectural Engineering was initially uniquely introduced in the Institute from the year 1996. It was started as Architectural Assistantship and was part of a women’s wing initiative under the World Bank scheme of promoting education for girl students. Presently admissions are open to girls as well as boys. The Admissions to the course are conducted by the Central Admission Committee under The Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim, Goa, through the Common Diploma Prospectus available on their website www.dtegoa.gov.in . All rules and regulations are applicable as per the Prospectus in force.
Educational Eligibility:
Candidate must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in the SSC (Std. Xth) or equivalent examination (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) with Science, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.
Course Duration:
The Diploma in Architecture is for duration of 3 years. Each year is divided into 2 semesters each. Full duration comprises of 6 semesters.
Intake Capacity:
- Total Seats are 30, distributed in seven different categories taken together.
- Additional 02 Supernumerary seats are available as Term Fee Waiver seat.

Career Prospects:
The students during the full 6th semester are put through real life practical exposure of handling various types of office works, site activities and other aspects of management of projects. This creates a lot of confidence in the students during the course of studies itself in getting them prepared for a confident career building along with the faculty mentoring.
As pass outs the Diploma holders have many options to choose as per their temperament and capability. The top rankers who have the interest to pursue higher education have the choice of attempting NATA exam and becoming eligible for admission to the degree course in Architecture or otherwise the IIA correspondence exams is the other option which is recognized by the Council of Architecture for practicing in India.
The construction Industry is booming with service options in Architects, Builders and also Engineers offices which have more than enough openings for employment. Free lance work handling or self employed as Contractors or Builders have huge potentials.
