Garment
Introduction:
Diploma in Garment Technology was uniquely introduced in the Institute from the year 1996. It was started as part of a women’s wing initiative under the World Bank scheme of promoting education for girl students. Presently admissions are open to girls as well as boys. The Admissions to the course are conducted by the Central Admission Committee under The Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim, Goa, through the Common Diploma Prospectus available on their website www.dtegoa.gov.in . All rules and regulations are applicable as per the Prospectus in force.
Educational Eligibility:
Candidate must have secured a minimum of 35% marks in aggregate in the SSC (Std. Xth) with Science, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.
Course Duration:
The Diploma in Garment Technology is for duration of 3 years. Each year is divided into 2 semesters each. Full duration comprises of 6 semesters.
Intake Capacity:
- Total Seats are 30, distributed in seven different categories taken together.
- Additional 02 Supernumerary seats are available as Term Fee Waiver seat.
- 08 seats are available as direct second year seats for Vocational passed out students as per prospectus criteria.

Career Prospects:
The department boasts of training the students in various sectors of Textile and Fashion field. The students can choose a varied range of career paths. The industries available are Fashion, Garment, Textile and Retail industries.
In Fashion Industry the job options are of Fashion designers, Backdrop designers, Event Coordinators, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Researchers, Fashion forecasters, etc. Garment Industry has options of joining as Pattern masters, Cutters, Supervisors, Quality controllers and high end job of Merchandisers to deal with buyers and track the deliveries. Textile Industry has good scope for Textile designers. Retail Industry needs Retail Managers, Stores in-charge, Window displayers, etc.
A capable student can be an entrepreneur having own Boutiques, Fashion/Export houses.
